Rising Thunder: CUE overcomes Briercrest with a 5-3 Upset

(EDMONTON, AB) In a thrilling matchup against the top-seed Briercrest Clippers, the Concordia Thunder embraced the underdog role and secured a hard-fought victory with a final score of 5-3. The game was marked by intense battles, numerous penalties, and physical play, but the Thunder maintained their composure and emerged triumphant.

The first period unfolded with both teams exchanging goals, featuring standout performances from #10 Brandon Kelly (BC) and #6 Jordan Bechtold (CUE). As the game progressed, Concordia took the lead in the second period with a power-play goal from #28 Grayson Reid (CUE). The third period witnessed crucial moments, including goals from #11 Lukas Konashuk (CUE), #10 Brandon Kelly, and a power-play goal from #7 Jacob Arsenault (BC). Concordia sealed the victory with two empty net goals from #19 Zachery Carlson and #12 Isaac Leik.

Notably, Thunder goaltender #30 Griffin Bowerman played a pivotal role, keeping his team in the game with a series of incredible saves. Bowerman's exceptional performance showcased his skill and resilience, proving instrumental in the Thunder's victory. The Thunder aims to carry the momentum into tomorrow afternoon's game against the Clippers, at the Silent Ice Centre.
