Concordia’s Brilliance Shines: Thunder Soccer Team Overpowers NWP Wolves

(EDMONTON, AB) - In a dominant display of skill, the Concordia University of Edmonton's (CUE) soccer team triumphed over Northwestern Polytechnic (NWP), securing a commanding 5-1 victory over the Wolves at Ralph King Field. The Thunder showcased their offensive prowess early on, establishing a strong lead and maintaining their dominance throughout the match.

Concordia started the game with a bang, as Theo Teng-Yang (#13) scored an impressive unassisted goal in the first quarter, setting the tempo for the match. The Thunder's relentless attack continued, with Pepukai Edwin Mapurisa (#18) doubling the lead in the 30th minute with another solo effort. Just before halftime, Mapurisa doubled down, finding the back of the net for a second time in the game.

Concordia carried their momentum into the second half, with Domenico Marchese (#7) scoring a well-timed goal in the 56th minute, assisted by Julian Muguia-Scott (#15). Despite a goal from Wolves' Evan Bedard (#13) in the 76th minute, Concordia responded swiftly, with Hamza Abderemane (#20) sealing the victory with an unassisted goal.

The One Team Sport players of the game, presented by Co-operators, were #17 Hendrick Hansma for NWP and #18 Pepukai Edwin Mapurisa for the Thunder.

Looking ahead, the Concordia Thunder's next and final home game will be this Sunday, October 22nd, at 2PM. Join us as we celebrate our graduating athletes in an exciting matchup against the Wolves for the second time this weekend.
