Huskies Take Game One in Weekend Series

Huskies Take Game One in Weekend Series

EDMONTON, AB (January 20th, 2023) - Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder took on the Keyano Huskies in a Friday night battle. Each set stayed close and Thunder fought to push the decision, but ultimately the Huskies held their ground and swept CUE 3-0.

In the first set, the Huskies brought their strength and speed, coming out of the gate with an early seven-point lead, but with a few service errors, the Thunder came back within one. Keyano took set one 25-20. The second set was back and forth. Both teams had fantastic defense and amazing hits, but service errors still plagued both teams. Ultimately the Huskies go up 2-0 after they win the set 25-21. In the third set, the Thunder pushed to regain their footing in the game. They kept the lead up until the score was 19-19 when the Huskies end the game on a 6-1 run. The Huskies win the set 25-20 and the game 3-0, despite the strong effort from Concordia.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #8 Radoslaw Brzowzowski from the Huskies, with 9 kills and 7 digs in the night. From the Thunder, #9 Kai Rosnau with 16 assists and 2 digs. A hard-fought battle on each end, but the Thunder came up short. They will look to change the pace tomorrow afternoon for the second game of the weekend series against Keyano at 3 PM.
