Bio

Nathaniel “Nate” MacLellan took over the Department of Athletics & Recreation at Concordia University of Edmonton on an interim basis in October 2021 where the Thunder went on to win a CCAA national championship and a department record 28 ACAC medals during the 2021-22 season, including 10 ACAC conference championships, and had 20 ACAC All-Conference Athletes, 4 CCAA All-Canadians, and 8 CCAA Academic All-Canadians. In May of 2022, MacLellan was officially named the permanent Director of Athletics & Recreation.

Originally from Welland, ON, MacLellan attended Brock University where he holds a Bachelor of Sport Management (Honours) degree. Additionally, he is currently attending Memorial University to attain a Master’s of Human Kinetics & Recreation degree.

Prior to transitioning into the Director role at Concordia, Nate moved to Edmonton, AB in 2014 to work at Concordia University of Edmonton in the Athletics & Recreation department taking on various roles such as the Game Day and Events Coordinator, Program and Sport Information Coordinator, and Student Experience Coordinator. During that time, he also spent 7 years working for Judo Alberta in a leadership role as the Executive Director.
